The Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station, the world’s largest CG air station, is located here. We are proud that Elizabeth City boasts three colleges:  Elizabeth City State University, Roanoke Bible College and College of the Albemarle. The Museum of the Albemarle has just completed construction of a huge new building on the waterfront downtown and our artist community, Arts of the Albemarle, has begun renovating a large historic building in downtown Elizabeth city which will house local craftsmen’s work and a community theatre.
